ask your doctor about non-insulin victoza®. it's covered by most health plans. hi, everyone, i'm tamron hall. we're live in cleveland, ohio, following major developments on the campaign trail. want to take you to the donald trump event only moments ago. we saw secret service agents being forced to jump on stage and surround the front runner as protesters tried to approach the candidate. this again at donald trump's first rally since we saw the unrest in chicago. this is at an airport hanger. you see the events playing out. the secret service rub running on stage as a protester was a step ahead of them getting very close to the candidate. now these developments, again,
9:01 am
were just moments ago. we heard from a e defiant donald trump for the first time since he was forced to call sell his rally in chicago. security escorted out several peacef protesters from the venue. there was no incidents of violence. and again, trump did not take responsibility for what his rivals have said were his violent words that helped create the atmosphere we saw play out in chicago. here's what trump said moments ago. >> the democrats hate the republicans. the liberals hate the conservatives. we have got to change our thinking. if there's a group out there, just throw them the hell out. we cannot let our first amendment rights be taken away from us, folks. we can't let it happen. we can't let it happen. we have a right to speak. and we are law-abiding people. we're people that work very

hards. we're people that have built this country and made this country great. and we're all together and want to get along with everybody. but when they have organized professionally staged wise guys, we have to fight back. we have to fight back. >> a short time before he took the stage, his gop rivals now all of them in their own way condemning the front runner and blaming him for what led to the situation in chicago. >> donald trump has created a toxic environment and a toxic environment has allowed his supporters and those who sometimes seek confrontation to come together in violence. there is no place for this. >> he doesn't want to say anything to supporters because he doesn't want to turn them off. he understands that the reason why they are voting for him is because he's tapped into this anger. this boiling point that we have reached has been fed largely by u the fact that we have a front

runner in my party who has fed into language that justifies physically assaulting people who disagree with you. when the person you're supporting for president is saying things like go ahead and slap him around. i'll pay your legal fees whar, do you think is going to happen next? >> will you support him as the normminee if he's the nominee? >> i don't know. i continue to intend to support the republican nominee, but it's getting harder every day. >> i will support the republican nominee. >> keri sanders is at that trump rally. he has another event slated for 2:00 p.m. in cleveland where we are. tell me a little bit about what you observed today. >> reporter: actually i'm here in cleveland as well. we're waiting for donald trump to come. the folks have been streaming in here for the last 45 minutes to an hour. some of them literally running here to get a good position to see when donald trump actually arrives. he likely will be behind

schedule. meantime inside all calm, everything is going on just as normal. outside things are calm, but there are protesters out there. as you look here, these are some shots we took of the protesters with their signs. they have gathered with their signs. the police department wasn't sure they were going to allow them to stay there that long, but they did remain there for some time. this is what they had to say about donald trump and why they are speaking out. >> after what happened in chicago, do you fear standing here protesting? >> we're not afraid. >> why stand out here? >> we want to communicate to the people coming in this is not okay. cleveland won't stand for this. >> i'm troubled that trump has managed to succeed to the extent that he has. i think it's time that those of us who are concerned do
9:05 am
something about it. especially now that the ohio primary is coming on tuesday. the timing is right for us to actually take action and could be very meaningful. >> we're here in the crowd. those folks are outside. they didn't plan to come inside. they would do their protests outside. i'm going to talk to brad hillton. you saw what happened in chicago. if protesters come in here, what will you do? >> you always got to watch around you and be aware of your surroundings and make it safe. >> how do you feel about what happened in chicago? >> i u think it's a sad situation. >> does it reflect not only on the protesters but also on the trump supporters or not? >> i think it goes on the whole republican party. because what you have is you have other folks that don't like donald trump, but like rooubio, cruz, et cetera, because if they
9:06 am
weren't republicans they wouldn't be. >> are you one of those voters who either removed yourself for some time from elections or felt that the republican party wasn't speaking to you? >> no, i was a democrat until trump came along. we need a leader. we need a viable leader. we need a leader that's not scared to take u the bull by the horns per se and do what this country needs to get great again. >> thank you very much. i appreciate it. we also have tracy u. you saw what happened in chicago. your thoughts. if somebody does anything here, what will you do? >> i'll ignore them. i can be a better person than that. >> does it reflect on trump supporters what happened? >> no, i don't think so. everybody has their own opinion who they want to vote for. we can show we're better than that by not responding to their actions. >> thank you both very much.
9:07 am
i appreciate it. you can see it's filling up. there were many people outside waiting to e get in here. donald trump scheduled to be here at 2:00, but we can be pretty sure he's going to be delayed. >> keri, thank you very much. trump has three rallies today. that's the second rally there where keri is. trump still at the dayton airport. we were covering the trump rally last night and have the latest on the reaction. we should note that senator bernie sanders will be in chicago a little later with a news conference. but we heard from donald trump today. i feel from what we just heard, he did not dig into the events in chicago the way that many people expected him to. we'll hear reaction from that. he did for the first time contradict his own words that the rally was called off by him last night he said it was the police department. they refuted that claim and said
9:08 am
that was not the case as to why that rally was not allowed to go on. it was a call by trump and his campaign not by the local authorities. >> that's definitely true. that's a contradiction that many of us jumped on last night during that presser after the rally. and it's definitely something that was the trump campaign's call. donald trump saying this earlier. but earlier we were talking about if we thought that trump might change his tone in light of what happened here last night in light of the violence and the large scale protest that we saw here in chicago and has evidenced by his rally just now in dayton doesn't seem that way. i know at one point he said if there are protesters you can get them out. that's a signature phrase of his, but it goes to show he's not going to be changing the way he deals with these protesters at all. another thing we saw in dayton they were saying it appeared someone rushed the stage.
9:09 am
i have never seen secret service have to jump on stage and form a perimeter around trump before. it goes to show that tensions are higher than ever at these trump rallies. it's something we should be watching out for. we're looking in the crowd to see if there's violence between protesters and supporters, but really you also have to consider the candidate's rhetoric and if it come to impact him and how he stands on the podium. today in dayton something almost ppened there that caused secret service to jump on stage and feel concerned for what was going on. >> and we just heard keri sanders interview trump sporters who said if they saw protesters, that they would not try to attack them or follow the urging of donald trump prior to today, which was the old days where people would be taken out on a stretcher. he's offered to pay the legal bills of anyone who would take out a protester in those rallies.
9:10 am
with that said, trump made the claim that protesters have been aggressive. he described them as big, strong guys who were potentially violent and that his people were striking back. you have covered a number of these rallies so far. we talked earlier from your observation and a number of other reporters, they have yet to see the protesters be the aggressors. trump talks about the first amendment. you have a right to peacefully protest. give our audience a better idea of what you have observed including in chicago last night. >> i think that chicago in the past two weeks are the upper end of the spectrum in terms of what we see in violence on the ground. last night you saw protesters getting in the faces of supporters so there was both sides in play there. at the same time, at previous rallies where trumpviolence, i e
9:11 am
that. that's a sense of what we see on the ground. >> thank you very much. now one of the chicago activists who was in the thick of it and a photo of him went viral yesterday and video of him was jed brown. he joins us now from chicago. thank you so much for your time u. >> so glad to be here. >> let me first get your reaction to what trump said in this past hour describing what he says were aggressive protesters, violent protesters in a tweet released this morning he referred to protesters as thugs. what's your reaction? >> my reaction is incorrect. we were a lot of people undecided. we wanted to know in chicago if a trump rally was the environment that we have seen in the media. we care about our city u.
9:12 am
we did not want that rhetoric in chicago. >> a number of people had gone on to social media calling for peaceful protests. if you went on to facebook, i know last night was reported essentially this had come out of thin air. but there was a call for organized peaceful protests of the trump rally. it is on a university campus. if anybody has been to chicago, the west side of chicago, diverse in age because of the college and ethnicity. hispanic and african-american. when you made it to the stage, what was the message that you wanted to get to that audience? >> the message that i was getting at was america is already great without the hate. when i got to the rally before any cameras were rolling, there was so much hatred and ignorance and discrimination. it was a terrible environment. it felt like the descriptions of
9:13 am
the '60s when blacks were considered three fifths of human beings or property. it felt like that kind of environment. very hateful. >> so we're k looing at the video of you. people will say u look at him on stage. he rushed the stage. that's not a peaceful protester. that is someone who was trying to take over the rally. explain what was going through your mind, explain that moment to us. >> so once i saw the hatred, i ran up there to give the message. america is already great without the hate. i was peaceful. . i never struck a police officer. i utilized my freedom of speech and my ability to give my opinion. i gave that and everybody wants to figure out who was the victim here. this is not a about victim. this is about values and the trump's rallies we have seen people be pushed around.
9:14 am
and in chicago we let it known it shouldn't be acceptable in chicago or america. you're taking us backwards, not moving us forward. i was on that stage to shut it down after i saw that trump supporters did not have a problem with being violent, being racist, being hateful. it was a value thing. >> we have heard from republican rivals who say that donald trump's rhetoric contributed to what we saw in chicago. marco rubio was asked again, would he support trump if he is the normminee. he said he doesn't know. that was a different answer than we saw from all of them on that debate stage where they said if he's the nominee they would support him. i don't know if you have endorsed someone, and i don't know if you supported someone, but do you believe at this point that it is up to the republican party to speak out more against their front runner? >> absolutely. this was the opportunity even for trump to show amazing leadership about how he's going to lead the country.
9:15 am
he could have got up and instead of saying it's the protester's fault, he could have said this is not the america that i'm looking to build. he said he was a uniformer. he could have been the calm to the storm. he could have probably won some of us over. but trump decided to point blame and no one in the republican party stood up. that's why i'm going to remain a very faithful and very loyal democrat because the republicans dropped the ball. last night that could have been the climax to bring us altogether. but they showed what their values were. it's on dividing us and on hatred and racism. we don't need that in america. we have done that. >> i want to pick up what you said about racism. one of the things that people who are looking to divide along racial lines, many of the protesters who were there as well were black, hispanic and also white. and people will emphasize the
9:16 am
blackdynamics, but there were peaceful protesters, that were not of color speaking out against the message. >> absolutely. we all understand that what trump's rhetoric is we don't need it. people from all walks of life came to stand against it. and very clearly, i u had on a dress shirt and dress shoes and a belt on my waist, but i was called a thug. so today i dressed like this on purpose because i love my city and there's so much ignorance. what the people who came together yesterday showed was real power in democracy in america. people that were muslim, christian, women, hispanic, blacks, we were all together and all saying one thing. stop the stereotyping and labeling and hatred. stop assuming. let's have a conversation and stop all this confusion and we

immediate past chair of the black caucus. thank you for joining us. >> thank you for having me. >> i'll get reaction on donald trump. but it's interesting in the last debate donald trump saying he couldn't wait to get his hands on hillary clinton. despite the fact in a head to head matchup bernie sanders and hillary clinton top him in a general election. when democrats are watching this play out what's been described by republican establishment as a potential implosion of their party, how do you process how this could impact hillary clinton who you're supporting or bernie sanders if they are the nominee. >> i think it's first off really silly to me that donald trump would be baiting anyone. donald trump is a bigot and he is destroying this country. if you can't even unite your own party, how do you unite the united states? i hope donald trump is their nominee. even though i don't think he has desire to be president.
9:24 am
because if he did, he would not be so deliberate in inciting the kind of violence he has done. he would no be so racist and mean spirited. if he really wanted to be the president of the most powerful country in the world, donald trump is playing a game that's very dangerous. i u think his party needs to say to him enough. it's time for you to walk away. >> do you believe the party has the power to say u that? we hear others point to the potential convention and if the nominee or if we go into their convention and there's not the magic number of 1237 reached. when you look at the republican party did you believe the establishment has the power to stand against this man who says he's brought in a million new voters to their party. >> let me tell you something. it's not about power. it's about courage. i'm an american. so are they. if they want to have a nation

that is led by somebody who knows what they are doing, they need to say to donald trump, you are not our candidate. you cannot be the president of the united states. it doesn't take power. it just takes courage. >> let's talk about what's happening with bernie sanders and hillary clinton. there was a headline i mentioned. after michigan loss hillary clinton sharpens message on jobs and trade. there have been some comparisons to this angry working class vote and the nbcnews.com has these hard hit steel towns like we see in ohio. during nearly every cam page speech, sanders also has a presence in the working class enclave of northeast ohio. he deplores a trade deal that criticizes his opponent for her husband's role and her support of tpp.
9:26 am
how much does that hurt her now with people in the state you know better than anyone else. >> i don't think it hurts her at all. i didn't take a position for tpp until i knew what was in it myself. that's a reasonable thing to do. number two, we are from a manufacturing state. people also know that we did extremely well under the presidency of bill clinton. if they want to hold her responsible, hold her responsible on both sides. she didn't have a vote on nafta. when she became a senator, she voted against it. she understand what is trade deals have done for the nation. i don't think it hurts her. >> what went wrong in michigan and how could it impact here? >> two things went wrong. we were outmanned and we were outspent. >> she's more recognizable. >> the big thing that people are not paying attention to is the fact that it's an open primary. when you allow people who are not democrats to vote, it changes the numbers very

that it would be a dire situation. he points to governor kasich working for lehman brothers as well. the governor pushed back saying 400,000 private sector jobs were created in ohio. what do you make of this round of attacks from donald trump focused on kasich? >> once again, trump has lost touch with the facts. let's talk about oil and gas in ohio. we think maybe 20,000 oil and gas jobs. we have created 440,000 private sector jobs. most of those are not in the oil and gas industry. government doesn't create jobs. government creates an environment for the private sector to create jobs. and john kasich led on creating that environment. with regard to other issues, let's talk about lehman brothers. kasich ran a two-man office in columbus, ohio. if he's responsible for bringing down all the issues associated,
9:41 am
we ought not be running him for president but for pope. the reality is that lehman brothers problems were out of washington because of the fake transactions that came around at the housing bubble. that didn't have anything to do with the office. he worked on growing jobs and getting informationment for companies that are growing and creating jobs. that's not what he did. trump knows that. he's just rehashing old arguments. >> let's talk about you believe that kasich will be the normmin. the latest polling out of ohio shows that trump has 38%. the governor, 32%. what math are you looking at that will take governor kasich to the nomination? how does he get 1237? >> fox news has the governor up 10 points. i run senate senate races and

9:48 am
in chicago on donald trump. i think his decision last night to cancel his rally was the correct one. unfortunately, there was still a lot of chaos. there was violence regardless. but obviously, whenever you have rallies as big as donald trump has, 25,000 to 30,000 people and you have all kinds of other folks who are there to disrupt the rallies, to sabotage the rallies, folks from bernie sanders' campaign, the situation is going to get very volatile. and unfortunately, we have seen the situation get a little bit out of hand. so that is unfortunate. as you know, ben carson has a different style compared to mr. trump. would he have handled the situation differently, perhaps. but i think ben carson had his reasons for endorsing mr. trump yesterday. >> dr. carson has commented on the rhetoric on the campaign trail. we know that when they were rivals, donald trump referred to him as a psychopath, even
9:49 am
compared him in his path youth to child molesters. so yes, you cannot be responsible for thousands of people, but you can be accountable for your words. includesing when he called ben carson a psychopath and when you tell the audience to punch other individuals. is is donald trump accountable for hi in of those things? >> tamron, i think we all need to be accountable for our words and actions, particularly political leers in the limelight must be accountable. ben carson, obviously, brought to this particular presidential election a great deal of civility. he believed in respect and he showed that throughout the race. not once did he wage personal attacks on his opponents. he does believe in forgiveness. he has already said that because of unfortunately the way that our political system is that a lot of times people have to wage
9:50 am
nasty attacks on other people in order to win a race. ben carson doesn't believe in doing that. he wouldn't have done what donald trump has done. but he also also wouldn't have many of the things that mr. trump's current opponents would have done, either. so, you know, dr. carson believes in forgiveness. he does believe that mr. trump is the best person moving forward to win the nomination and defeat hillary clinton. tamron, if i could also say one more thing, dr. carson also believes that -- go ahead. >> and i hate to cut you off here, but i have to allow time for anita turner. but if you're available, we'll book you. we'll be here through tuesday and i greatly appreciate you joining us. we've had to cover a lot of breaking news, but i will get back to you, i assure you of that. she has been standing by, former ohio state senator, current sanders backer nina turner. i want you to respond to what ying just said regarding bernie sanders supporters, and here's what donald trump said just an hour ago. let's play it.
9:51 am
>> these other people -- by the way, some represented bernie, our communist friend -- [ booing ] now, really, bernie should tell his people -- there weren't too many hillary people there. you know why. i mean, in all fairness to bernie, the reason there weren't hillary people, they have no fervor. there's no fervor. say what you want about bernie, at least they have a little bit of fervor, right? but with bernie, so, he should really get up and say to his people, stop. stop. not me. stop. >> nina, let's get your reaction to trump as well as ying ma, who was working with the carson campaign. >> well, tamron, nonsense. i've been at many of the rallies that have been hosted by senator sanders, and there have been no incidences of violence. nobody is amped up in that way. it is ridiculous for mr. trump to blame senator sanders as
9:52 am
someone running for president of the united states of america. he has a responsibility to try to pull that kind of rhetoric and emotion that the folks who -- some folks who are supporting him have. and tamron, let us not forget, this is not just about mr. trump, this is really about the underlying racism in this country that we have yet to address, that there are occasions -- and mr. trump's rallies are such occasions -- where it starts to percolate to the top. this also happened when president obama was elected. so, let's just flat out be honest here. some folks in this country are still upset, they can't get over it, they can't accept that president barack obama was elected the first african-american president in these united states of america, that racism and sexism and ageism and classism is in the dna of this country, and we need leaders to talk about it and then to talk about how to solve those problems. senator bernie sanders has a racial justice platform that addresses the five types of violences that suffocate black and brown folks in this country. so, tamron, let's be real, we're
9:53 am
not going to blame senator bernie sanders for the actions that mr. trump is stoking. >> let's talk about the fact senator sanders will hold a news conference. he's out with a new ad in illinois taking on the chicago mayor, rahm emanuel. we know rahm's role in the obama administration in the past. what's the strategy going after rahm in chicago? >> i mean, senator trump has been very clear. he supported commissioner chuy garcia in chicago when he was running against mayor emanuel at the time. this is really about senator sanders reaffirming the type of president that he will be and the type of leadership that is necessary across this country, not just in the white house. and we know that mayor emanuel has shut down schools. most of those schools are in african-american neighborhoods. and he has fired quite a few teachers there. and so, senator sanders is just going there to reaffirm his leadership on those issues. don't even get me started on the laquan case. so, again, senator sanders is there to let the folks in
9:54 am
chicago know that he is standing up for social justice and racial equality, as he always has, that he is right by his side and commsi right there with him. >> nina turner, thank you so much for your time. we greatly appreciate it. we'll be right back as we remain here just outside of cleveland, ohio. we're going to take a quick break. it took joel silverman years to become a master dog trainer. but only a few commands to master depositing checks at chase atms. technology designed for you. so you can easily master the way you bank. this is lloyd. to prove to you that the better choice for him is aleve. he's agreed to give it up. ok, but i have 30 acres to cover by sundown. we'll be with him all day as he goes back to taking tylenol. yeah, i was ok,

10:01 am
his republican rivals continue to weigh in on what happened last night in chicago. senator marco rubio, governor john kasich, and senator ted cruz all condemning trump for creating what one of them called a toxic environment. of the three of those contenders, only one, ted cruz, says he is still committed to supporting donald trump, if he wins the nomination. this is the place for politics. it is a busy saturday in the political world. all eyes on donald trump and the story is changing by the minute here. just about an hour from now, donald trump scheduled to be in cleveland, ohio, though we should note, he has been running late today. at a rally a short time ago outside dayton, ohio, trump chastised demonstrators who showed up in chicago last night, calling them a disgrace. >> they want me to tell my people, please, be nice, be
10:02 am
nice. my people are nice. the people that came there were so nice. and let me tell you, the people that were there that came there, that were invited there, thousands and thousands of people, they caused no problem. they were taunted, they were harassed by these other people. these other people, by the way, some supported bernie, our communist friend. [ booing ] now really, bernie should tell his people -- there weren't too many hillary people there. you know why. i mean, in all fairness to bernie, the reason there weren't hillary people, they have no fervor. there's no fervor. say what you want about bernie, at least they have a little bit of fervor, right? but with bernie, so, he should really get up and say to his people, stop. stop. not me. stop. they said, mr. trump should get up and this morning tell his people to be nice. my people are nice, folks. they're nice.
10:03 am
they're great. they're great. my people are great. >> donald trump said he had no choice but to cancel the rally last night out of what he called security concerns. today in dayton, at one point, we mentioned a protester did try to rush the stage, perhaps more than one, we're not sure yet, and trump was surrounded by secret service agents. throughout this morning we've heard from trump's rivals. they've all criticized trump. marco rubio saying "words have consequences." >> boiling point that we have now reached has been fed largely by the fact that we have a front-runner in my party who has fed into language that basically justifies physically assaulting people in disagreement. >> we have correspondents all covering every campaign today with the next big votes, of course, coming this tuesday here in florida and four other states -- north carolina, illinois, missouri and ohio. nbc's kerry sanders is live in cleveland, ohio, where trump is scheduled to hold a rally next hour.
10:04 am
and kerry, you've been talking to people in line. what are we anticipating there? >> reporter: well, they're anticipating that donald trump will come in and probably address what happened in chicago as well as talk about why they need to go to the polls, why he wants their support. it's a very supportive crowd, as is always the case with donald trump rallies. the folks that you see here, take a look at how large the crowd is here. they started showing up here about 4 1/2, 5 hours before the scheduled event, which is at 2:00, an hour from now, but we do know that donald trump will be late. meantime, because of what happened in chicago, a lot of cameras and a lot of attention on protesters at this event. you can see outside here just a small number of people who set up outside on the way in with their signs, telling us mostly that they do not plan to come inside. after what happened in chicago, do you fear standing here protesting, and do you plan to go inside? >> we don't plan to go inside and we're not afraid. >> reporter: why stand out here?
10:05 am
>> we want to communicate to all the people that are coming in that this is not okay, that cleveland won't stand for this. >> i'm troubled that trump has managed to succeed to the extent that he has. and i think that it's time that those of us who are concerned do something about it, especially now that the ohio primary's coming on tuesday. the timing is right for us to actually take action that could be very meaningful. >> reporter: now, law enforcement says that they do have a plan in place here, but they're not going to discuss it. the cleveland police deferring all comments to the mayor and the mayor's spokesman, saying he's not going to say anything. but we do know that one of the difficulties is, when you look around at the crowd here, you can't just look at somebody and immediately know that they are a protester. and we are told by some of those outside that they will come in, that they will protest and they
10:06 am
will try to disrupt what is going to gather here. in fact, let me show you some of the video of people coming in, just those who wanted to get here, rushed to the stage here just so they could get the positions, as you see them running in. so, we'll be watching this closely along with carol zellers. real quickly, are you blaming the protesters, blaming the trump supporters in chicago? who do you blame in all of this? >> the protesters. >> reporter: now, what will you do if something happens here? >> run. >> reporter: run. okay. well, that's a very honest answer. she told me earlier that her husband told her maybe they shouldn't even come because they were fearful, with a little bit of a chuckle there, that maybe they'd leave with some black eyes. but clearly, the trump supporters are driven to shoiw here, kate. and again, as i said, donald trump will likely be here late. he's expected to be here in an hour, but that's just not going to be on time. >> okay, kerry sanders in cleveland. that's donald trump's next stop. and let me just take a moment. we've just gotten information in about his last stop, and that was outside of dayton, ohio.
10:07 am
this is coming from our correspondent, hallie jackson. she's spoken to chief mike eder of the dayton airport police department. and this is about that moment you see here, where it looked like secret service rushed on to the stage to surround donald trump. what hallie's reporting, based on a conversation with the dayton airport police, somebody jumped the bike racks, they said, and tried to get on the stage. secret service was stationed and got to the individual before that individual got up on the stage. the person may have thrown some kind of bottle first, but that's not clear, says the police chief. this person is now charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic, both of which are misdemeanor charges. so again, you don't see the individual in the video that we're looking at, but apparently, someone did try to jump on to the stage and has now been arrested. one secret service agent, we're told, sustained a minor injury to the nose. let's go over to tampa, florida, now. nbc's gabe gutierrez is up there.
10:08 am
and this morning, visibly shaken marco rubio talk eed about the unrest last night at trump's chicago rally, saying that he's not sure if he could support donald trump, should he become the republican nominee. gabe, what else did he have to say? >> reporter: hi there, kate. good afternoon. yes, marco rubio did say that. he said he no longer knew if he would support donald trump as the republican nominee. he said that he intended to do so, but it is getting harder every day. now, this is a departure from a few days ago when the three republican rivals, trump's three republican rivals, said on that debate stage that they would pledge to support donald trump if he were the nominee. now, at this rally in largo, florida, this morning, rubio also spoke in very stark terms to the crowd, saying that he worried that the republican party and the future of conservatism would be defined by donald trump and this violence if he were, indeed, the nominee. let's take a listen at some of the harsh words for trump that he had to say when he spoke with res thporter morning.
10:09 am
>> i believe donald tmp is our nominee is going to shatter and fracture the republican party and the conservative movement. i think it's already having that function. and i think a donald trump presidency, you know, would be more along those lines. >> reporter: now, since then, john kasich has also seemed to waver of donald trump, if trump were the nominee, saying he wanted to let things play out before he decided. again, that's different from what kasich said on the debate stage just days ago. only ted cruz has really stuck by that pledge, saying he plans to support donald trump if he were the nominee. now, back to marco rubio, he's about to stop by here in tampa, florida. he has at least five stops throughout central florida and the panhandle today. he is really trying to make that last-minute push in his make-or-break state, his home state with the primary on tuesday, winner take all, 99
10:10 am
delegates. and this could potentially be the last stand for his campaign. his campaign is guaranteeing a victory here in florida. and depending on which poll you look at, kate, he is down anywhere from 6 points to 23 points. but again, this morning a visibly shaken marco rubio, visibly frustrated marco rubio, really taking it to donald trump. and while saying that he wasn't -- he didn't -- the protesters in all this weren't completely blameless, he said some of them in chicago might have been so-called professional protesters, but he did blame donald trump for bringing down the political discourse in this country, and he had some very deep concerns about it, kate. >> gabe, i just was handed something. donald trump tweeting -- i don't know if you've seen this yet, things are happening so quickly. but donald trump tweeted about florida, saying "word is early voting in florida is very dishonest. little marco, his state chairman and their minions are working overtime trying to rig the
10:11 am
vote." that's a big charge there. have you had a chance to see that or talk to the rubio campaign about that charge? >> reporter: that isn't. that tweet must have just come out just a short time ago. the rubio campaign -- here's the thing, kate, according to early polling, according to a poll a few days ago, the early vote and the absentee vote had marco rubio about up at 48%. that's much higher than donald trump. and the rubio campaign had been warning about these dirty tricks from other campaigns, especially from the cruz campaign. they tried to warn voters here, saying to expect some dirty tricks from the cruz campaign. that's a tactic they used before. the rubio camp has also had volunteers out trying to get people to sign up for early voting. but certainly, donald trump with that new tweet and during his speech earlier today referring again to little marco, calling him a choke artist. it was a kinder, gentler donald trump perhaps a few days ago, but that's obviously out the window, kate. >> all right.
10:12 am
gabe gutierrez with the rubio campaign nod florida. senator ted cruz, as gabe mentioned, is taking his campaign to missouri today. cruz today said protesters are mostly to blame, but he was critical of the trump style. >> i think it is also true that any campaign, responsibility begins and ends at the top. and it is my hope that all of us can appeal to civility. i committed at the outset, i will support the republican nominee, whoever it is. >> nbc's vaughn hilliard covers the cruz campaign for us, in st. louis this afternoon, joins us by phone. vaughn, we heard ted cruz, the only one of the three rivals to say that he would stand by donald trump, if it came to that, but also offering that critique. >> reporter: sure. it's a long way to kansas city right now, and right before the st. louis event is when we asked him, and he said outright that
10:13 am
he committed to him from the get-go, that he would support the republican nominee, and he would hold firm. now, what's interesting about that is just earlier, he also said that trump's campaign affirmatively encourages violence and disrespects voters. so, at what point -- how far does donald trump have to go until he pulls back? and several reporters, ted cruz on his way out of this event, were trying ask him that question and he wouldn't respond. so, i think that's a question he'll be persistently getting over the days, perhaps weeks ahead, for as long as this goes. but i think the question for ted cruz is to what extent can he be the alternative candidate to donald trump right now? you hear him kind of taking a more, perhaps a softer tone when it comes to the washington cartel, as he likes to call them. he's brought on mike lee, senator from utah. so, really, at this stage, this is a question of can ted cruz be, i guess the more calming alternative to donald trump? >> all right, vaughn hilliard following the cruz campaign.
10:14 am
thanks so much. let's bring in msnbc national correspondent and my fellow anchor here, joy reid, with us in miami. good to see you again. >> great to be here with you, kate. >> where were we, michigan the other day? >> i can't remember. >> now we're wearing sleeveless. i t. love i >> i know, it's great. >> let me ask about donald trump and everything we've been talking about this morning. he tried to explain what happened in chicago last night at his rally outside dayton. let's take a listen to that sound. >> so, what happened is everybody was fine, everybody was behaving. and what they've done, really, on the other side -- it was moveon.org or one of these groups, bad groups. these are bad people. let me tell you, these are pele that truly don't want to see our country be great again. >> and joy, just in the last hour, bernie sanders responding to donald trump, because a lot of those people in the crowd last night did hold bernie sanders signs. >> yes. >> and he said, "our supporters are responding to a candidate who has in fact in many ways encourage violence."
10:15 am
>> yeah. >> do we know what happened last nighin the was there an organized protest movement? >> in the last hour, we interviewed ethos, one of the leaders of the protests in chicago, and he said about a half a dozen of them came together because of fears on the campus. there were people on the university of illinois chicago campus, which is the far south side campus, who were very nervous about trump coming. this is people who were his meinke, muslim, people who essentially felt he brings an atmosphere with him at the rallies that they felt was threatening to their safety. and so, they organized a protest. they started with a moveon.org petition, which got over 4,000 signatures to try to prevent the rally from happening at all. but it turned out that the location where the rally was going to be held, it was already done, the contracts were already signed. their petition failed. so, that's why they decided to organize. it took about four days to get together and organize their protest. >> so, there was a sizable number of people in the crowd last night who weren't, as we're seeing in cleveland, his next stop -- it lacks like mostly trump supporters -- but last
10:16 am
night it was a mix. >> it was mix and there were some bernie sanders supporters. now, there were people scattered throughout the venue as we were told by this protester, so some people were part of the organized movement and others might have been on their own. there were some bernie sanders supporters who held up bernie signs, but it does feel like as the protests build, there is more and more organization. that's one of the fascinating things that's happening. it started as one muslim woman who sat silently with a jewish friend and they silently protest and are thrown out. a black and a white friend come together, they protest and get thrown out. as it is building and trulp is going particularly to places like chicago, where there's more of a multiethnic community and it's a university community -- remember, university of chicago is where the black youth project started, so there's a history of activism. >> that's why i'm wondering about cleveland. let's hope everyone remains peaceful. >> and we know the tamir rice case has been boiling there. there is already a base. >> quickly, let's talk about florida, marco rubio.
10:17 am
and we just heard trump's new tweet, where he's accusing rubio of dirty tricks here in florida. rubio needs to win this state. >> he does. >> and right now the polling does not show him -- i mean, it shows donald trump way in the lead. >> yes. and what's interesting about that -- so, just so we think trump is spontaneous? no, he is very calculating. this state has an early vote period. there was an early, early vote that was 14 days out. the counties that got to vote super early are more likable to rubio, miami-dade county, broward county, the south county, plus hillsboro, where he won. that's places where the early absentee vote that's banked in is pro-rubio. donald trump is picking up early people who were committed to him from outset, then the race to election day. who will actually win election day? remember, kate, more than half of the voters in florida already voted as of this weekend. >> yeah, more than a million people. >> more than a million people. >> have already voted here. >> mostly republican. so, he is now trying to game the system that if marco rubio banks enough vote and wins, he's going
10:18 am
to be able to say, fraud. fraud. >> all dirty tricks. >> all dirty tricks. >> joy reid, great to be with you in the sun. >> and the sun is beautiful. >> we'll have a mohita later, deal? >> absolutely. >> in a moment, how voters in florida are reacting to last night's chaos in chicago. will it make a difference in the way they vote here? >> a lot of the candidates that are struggling right now are the ones that i believe are the best for the country. >> like who? >> kasich is -- >> kasich. >> -- i think he's a fantastic candidate. when you think about success, what does it look like? is it becoming a better professor by being a more adventurous student? is it one day giving your daughter the opportunity she deserves? is it finally witnessing all the artistic wonders of the natural world? whatever your definition of success is,

10:22 am
stop in cleveland. at a dnc fund-raiser in dallas today, meanwhile, president obama, although not mentioning donald trump by name, did call out some of his campaign rhetoric and spoke out against the political divisiveness. >> america is pretty darn great right now. america's making strides right now. america's better off than it was right now. but the folks who are running for office should be focused on is how we could make it even better, not insults and schoolyard taunts and manufacturing facts, not divisiveness along the lines of race or faith, certainly not violence against other americans. >> the president speaking at a fund-raiser in dallas, texas, there. so, what are voters thinking of everything that's happened in the past 24 hours and what do specifically florida voters,
10:23 am
where i am, want? msnbc's cal perry has been speaking with some of them. he joins us from jacksonville, beach, up north in florida. cal, what are you hearing? >> reporter: so, we were out here this morning talking to people on this pier. this is the main pier in jacksonville. obviously, a lot of people fishing off the pier. and everybody sort of had the same thing to say, which is donald trump is incredibly polarizing. so, if you liked him before the incident that occurred yesterday and today, you like him today. if you didn't like him, it was just an excuse to continue not liking the man. take a listen. you were a trump supporter before. are you still one now? >> i don't care what he says. we need those people out, man. we need to vote all these senators out. >> i do a lot, because the bickering, the talking about each other, and the arguments and the -- you just name it,
10:24 am
it's just so much negativism. >> reporter: a lot of people who are against donald trump very worried about that rhetoric and very concerned about what seems to be kind of ever-increasing violence. now, here in florida, this will be the big prize, of course, on tuesday. 99 delegates at stake. we've seen huge voter turnout already in early voting, which is consistent with this entire primary season. roughly 1.6 million people have already cast a ballot. and this, this is the area where marco rubio has to do well. i mean, he expects to do well where you are, kate, in miami. but up here, up north and then to the west of here in the panhandle, he's got to make gains on donald trump if he's going to close that gap in the polls, certainly something he'll be looking at in the coming days. he'll be in pensacola today. it's something he has to succeed at if he has any chance, kate. >> yeah, he's jumping all over northern florida and those counties this morning and into this afternoon. cal perry, thanks so much. joining me now from new york,
10:25 am
msnbc political analyst elise jordan. she is the former senior policy adviser for the rand paul campaign. elise, nice to see you again. >> thanks for having me. >> i don't know where to begin on a saturday afternoon. i mean, things are moving very quickly today. we've seen so much focus on donald trump and his rally since last night and then even just a couple hours ago outside of dayton, ohio, seeing some more turbulence there. let me ask you whether you think it all impacts not just donald trump but the whole party. >> i think it's a huge problem. i think that we actually as a party shouldn't be surprised. you know, the night of the iowa caucuses, donald trump offered to start paying the legal fees of anyone at any one of his rallies that beat up a protester. that was february 1st. so, look at where we are today, going into this next contest. and we're surprised that there is a huge outburst of violence at these donald trump rallies. he has been actively inciting this. it is the command climate that he would have in his presidency. he has made himself the vowed
10:26 am
enemy of the first amendment. i think that we shouldn't be surprised, and it's incredibly troubling, so much so that even kasich and rubio are saying they don't know that they'd support him as the nominee. >> let's talk about ohio for a moment, because donald trump -- we've been showing the shot -- he's on his way to cleveland, ohio, for his next rally. but of course, that's the home state of john kasich. kasich leads in the latest fox news ohio poll, 34%-29% for trump, so a five-point margin there. elise, when you look at that, read the tea leaves for us. what are we thinking about ohio, and what happens if kasich wins? what happens if he loses? >> i think that it's looking good for kasich in ohio. he's a hugely popular governor. he's got about a 77% approval rating. i think that he probably will pull out the vote in ohio. going forward from there, though, it really depends so much on what happens with these other winner-take-all states on tuesday. is trump going to win florida? if so, that makes it much easier
10:27 am
to get -- you know, for him to gain strength with his delegate count. but kasich could be somewhat of a game-changer in that he could be the new candidate that the republican establishment and the anti-trump vote gets around, if rubio does have a poor performance in florida o tuesday. >> and i was just going to ask you about florida. we've just been talking about this new tweet from donald trump. i don't know if you saw it, but he accused -- he used "little marco" again and accused senator rubio, and he said his minions, of trying to rig the vote in florida. i think that's a different tweet that we're looking at, but the one about rubio said he's working overtime trying to rig the vote here. what do you make of that? is that just politics that people call each other out on dirty tricks this close to the day? >> well, it makes me think that trump is getting a little anxious about what his margin going to be in florida. i hope that it means rubio is doing well turning out the early vote against trump. but you know, who really knows? there have been absolutely no accusations of any kind of
10:28 am
voting irregularities pursued by the rubio campaign. so, i think it's just absolute nonsense and trump's insecurity. >> all right. elise jordan, thanks so much for being with us on a saturday. always good to see you. >> thanks for having me. >> all right. cleveland, as we mentioned, is waiting for donald trump. he is going to speak at a rally that is supposed to begin at the top of the hour, although we should mention he's been running a little late today. we'll keep an eye on that for you. you'll also hear from supporters and protesters from that event in just a few minutes. they represent blood cells. and if you have afib-an irregular heartbeat that may put you at five times greater risk of stroke they can pool together in the heart, forming a clot that can break free

i say this every night, every day, every afternoon, and it's so true -- we don't win anymore. >> that's a familiar refrain from donald trump. and according to 538.com, it is actually trump's most-spoken phrase in the first 11 republican debates -- "we don't win anymore."
10:32 am
for ted cruz, it's "i would note." marco rubio invokes an optimistic "when i'm president," and one of john kasich's most popular phrase is "fact of the matter is," and it shows that rubio has been the most repetitive republican. florida coming under a hail of anti-trump advertising and a lot of other ads here, as much as $20 million in new ads. where's it all coming from? that's just ahead. out on the town or in for the night, at&t helps keep everyone connected. right now at at&t, buy the new samsung galaxy s7 and get one free. no matter how you hang out, share every minute of it. buy one water resistant samsung galaxy s7 and get one free. and right now, get up to $650 in credits per line to help you switch to at&t. if you misplace your you can use freeze it

10:36 am
we're live in miami, bayside marketplace, here on the place for politics, and it has been an incredibly busy place. a lot of moving parts today. let's bring in msnbc's tony decouple in cleveland and we'll talk with hallie jackson in dayton, ohio. actually, let me start with hallie. you were at the rally outside of dayton this morning. and one thing we haven't reported on yet because we've been awaiting more details, there was another scuffle involving a protester. what can you tell us? >> reporter: yeah, this individual who attempted to rush the stage at the donald trump rally. and kate, if you were watching live on msnbc, you saw secret service agents essentially jump on stage and surround donald trump in this sort of dramatic moment. here's what we're learning. police telling nbc news that this was 22-year-old thomas numossimo, charged with disorderly conduct and inducing panic. he was basically rushed away from the stage. he jumped over the bike racks, we're told, and may have thrown a water bottle beforehand but
10:37 am
didn't actually make it on to the stage, according to police. he was taken off and sort of escorted away very fast before that happened. it appears as though there may have been a minor injury to a secret service agent in the nose, but it looks as though that is not an issue for the service. we expect potentially to hear more from them later today and have reached out for comment, kate. but i'll tell you, when you were at this rally here in dayton, i was very large. there was a big crowd here. people had been lining up for hours prior to the beginning of the event, as early as 1:00 in the morning. it started off rather low key, especially in contrast to what we saw in chicago last night. but towards the end, you saw some of the protests begin to heat up. it was scattered, sporadic interruptions at first, and then late you continue to see those types of things. but after that gentleman, that person ran to try to get on stage and jump the racks, that's when you could feel a little bit of a different tone here at this rally, kate, much more tense and really highlighted what has
10:38 am
changed in these last couple of weeks at these donald trump rallies. >> yeah. hallie jackson, to be sure. thanks so much. and tony, let me go over to you, tony decopal. you spoke with trump supporters and protesters. you've been outside of the next venue in cleveland. what are they telling you? >> reporter: yeah, kate, things are heating up here. we're about 20 minutes from the scheduled start of the rally. trump's plane has pulled in. we can see the tail over our shoulder. this is a very different setting from the chicago rally last night. we're at the generic gathering hall outside of the cleveland airport, but there is a line of protesters, and this line of cars is trump supporters hoping to make a last-minute effort to get inside. they've been offering middle fingers, creative invitations to some of their anatomy. and the protesters to their credit have yelled back, but not with the same level of vitriol. however, there have been tense exchanges, and we captured one on film just moments ago. take a listen. >> why have you got to come --
10:39 am
>> that doesn't make him a hero. >> he's a hero because he took the american dream and he ran with it! he ran with the american dream! he took the american concept and he made greatness through achievement. what's that? >> if my father gave me $200 million -- >> no, no, where did you get that fact? >> i'm american. >> i have veterans in my family and they are nothing like that. america was not founded on hate. >> yeah, exactly. >> no, it wasn't. >> yeah, black lives matter? all lives matter. bye. >> reporter: now, kate, that is part of a protest that's about 100 feet from here. it's pretty loud, pretty rowdy, but i'm standing at a much quieter protest, a protest that is more visibly forward. this group works in the university hospital system around here and they have shirts that say "muslim doctors save lives in cleveland." i want to introduce you to christina. what brought you out today? >> well, we are a group of health care professionals, as you said.
10:40 am
most of us work at university hospitals. and we wanted to show support for our muslim colleagues at the hospital who work hard every day to ensure the health and well-being of northeast ohio residents. and we also oppose what trump stands for. i think he -- >> reporter: what kind of reception have you received from the trump supporters that are driving by as we speak? >> well, we've had some pretty offensive things shouted at us. people saying "get a life," "get a job," help maep out here, guys -- >> "get off welfare." >> "get off welfare." >> there's also been a lot of supportive folks that have gone by. a lot of the troopers have been taking pictures ofs. >> reporter: and you return it with love. love trumps hate. >> we've been chanting that and holding up the signs. >> thank you very much. thank you, christina. now, kate, we also caught up with a group of protesters that were planning to go inside. we talked with them moments before they joined the line, and we've been able to confirm they are inside at this moment.
10:41 am
people have asked how organized are the protests against the donald trump rallies and from our reporting, not very organized, at least at this cation. the people we met up with in the parking lot, they had no preplan, just caught each other's eye, thought they shared something in common and they walked in together. >> and tony, let me clarify, you said you saw the plane land there, right? so, we think that donald trump is nearby? >> reporter: yeah, we think donald trump is here. we can see the tail of his plane, the great trumpmobile, the 757, although he will probably correct me, a 767, 747? >> i don't know. >> reporter: a big plane with trump's initial on the tail. it landed. you can see it. there is a hangar to the left of the entrance to the exposition center. i've been at other trump rallies and he likes to do a flyover, then a nice, slow pull-up. and if he can do it, if there are windows, any way to let his supporters see the plane, he is sure to let them see the plane, and we saw it. so, yeah, he's on the premises. >> okay. good to know, tony. thanks so much, because we thought he might be running behind, but it looks like he may
10:42 am
be on schedule to be there at the top of the hour. tony dokoupil, thanks so much. it 99 winner-take-all gop delegates at stake here in florida on tuesday, you see ads everywhere you look, and on every channel you turn to. but across the sunshine state, special interest groups are investing millions in negative ads in the hopes of persuading voters here to vote against donald trump, or at least not vote for him. one group, the american future fund, spent at least $3 million on trump attack ads. with me now to talk ads and numbers and also just politics in general is the founder of katecom, kevin kate, who works mainly for democratic candidates here in florida. >> that's right. >> one former governor who used to be a republican and is now a democrat, charlie crist, running for congress right now. good to see you again. >> great to see you. >> last saw each other up in st. petersburg. i've noticed just being here for a number of days, you turn on the tv, it's just a blanket of
10:43 am
commercials. and a lot of them are pac ads running against donald trump, really trying to take him down a notch here. is it going to work? >> well, it's too late. and one of the reasons why it's too late is because pac ads here in florida, our media markets are massive and very expensive, and the super pac ads are trying to buy ads that aren't candidate ads, so they're more expensive. so, they're essentially burning money here in between these donald trump reality show that we continue to show. they've got these ads that are just being burnt up and wasted, in my opinion. >> and you've got big markets here, miami, orlando, tampa. those are expensive places to run ads. >> right. rubio's base here in miami, this is the most expensive, and tampa's the next most expensive, these are major dollars you're going to have to commit if you want to stop trump. and right now it looks to be too late. >> you think it's too late. is this rubio just trying to throw the kitchen sink, just trying to do everything he can? >> i mean, i was watching msnbc earlier, and he looked so depressed. he said, you know, it's getting harder to support the eventual nominee, which looks like it's
10:44 am
trump the way he's talking. and he looked pathetic. >> again, you're a democrat -- >> that's right. >> but he did seem fatigued and he seemed very disheartened by what had happened and the tone of things this morning, what happened in chicago last night. >> yeah, but you have to remember, rubio, he talked in these codes, he whistled this whistle during his 2010 campaign with the tea party. and if this would have been sarah palin four years ago, this might have been happening four years ago. i mean, this is the same song that's been sung by republicans, and people are showing up. it's depressing, what tony was showing in cleveland, people yelling at each other? i remember mike fasano, who's a politician here, i was shooting a commercial and somebody went by in a car and yelled at him a derogatory term, and they said it's better they're doing it at me than each other and sometimes politicis just have to take it. and what donald trump has done is turned people against people instead of people just venting to politicians, and it's really outrageous. i watched msnbc all night last night with my wife, and it was depressing to watch. >> all right, kevin kate, thanks
10:45 am

10:47 am
10:48 am
i'm kate snow back with you in miami o a very busy day in politics, and a lot of things developing by the hour here. earlier this hour we were talking to gabe gutierrez about marco rubio, and we were talking about a tweet that had just come out from donald trump in which he accused the rubio campaign of "trying to rig the vote in florida." well, we've gotten a response now from the rubio campaign. i want to read the response to you. this is from marco rubio's campaign. they say "marco has a ground game of dedicated volunteers working on his behalf to win florida.
10:49 am
trump must be scared of losing." again, that from the marco rubio campaign responding to donald trump here in florida as they battle for votes just as we're going into tuesday's primary here. one of the issues the candidates on both sides of the party have been talking about a lot is the minimum wage. on thursday, fast-food workers here in florida took their dmoondz the streets in hopes of getting their hourly rate raised up to $15. that would be almost double the current statewide minimum wage, which is $8.50 an hour. maryann raney is a fast-food worker who participated in the rally. thanks for being with us. >> thank you for having me. >> you're wearing your "florida fight for 15" shirt. >> yes. >> so, you clearly think $8.50 not enough. >> it's not enough. >> and you want miami to follow the model of new york, st. louis, who's been considering $15 an hour. >> yes. >> tell me why. >> because you can't live on it. by the time you pay rent, lights, water, you cannot survive on $8 and $9 an hour.
10:50 am
there's no way. i get done paying child care and all my bills, i have no money left over. >> you said you have five children. >> i have five children. >> 21 way down to 4. it's hard. >> do you work another job or just the one job? >> i work one job so i can at least be there to take care of my kids. >> and how do you make that happen? >> i don't. i struggle from paycheck to paycheck. got to pay the minimum on the light bill on the water bill, whatever i can. it's very hard out here. >> donald trump was asked about this at a debate. i'm not sure, do we have the sound of that or not? okay. we don't have the sound. but donald trump was asked about whether the minimum wage should be raised up top $15 an hour at a debate and he said no. he says he thinks that would hurt business. that employers wouldn't be able to afford it. >> they can do it. mcdonald's is a $54 billion -- $64 billion -- sorry. $64 billion industry every year they make money. they made over $24 billion
10:51 am
profits in last year. they didn't help us out none. we're the ones who put in all the work, doing all the hard work, working every day. working all these hours busting our butts. and we don't get nothing for it. i say let donald trump walk in our shoes and then see how he would feel. how would he feel if he walked in our shoes month by month and week by week and see what he feels. maybe then he'd change his mind. >> have you voted yet? >>e not. >> are you going to vote on tuesday? >> yes. mind me asking who you're going to support? >> the one that believes in what i believe in. the fight for $15. >> i would guess a democrat. >> if that's who's going for it, then hey. >> you still trying to make up your mind? >> still trying to make up my mind. whoever is behind the fight for $15, that's what i'm going for. >> great to have you with us. it's a gorgeous day here today. marianne rainey, thanks for your time. >> make sure you all get out
10:52 am

10:55 am
well, the fight for florida is growing intense with some new back and forth this morning between the rubio camp and donald trump's campaign. let's go to gabe gutierrez who covered marco rubio's campaign here. what are we learning? >> hi there, kate. good afternoon. marco rubio is expected here at another retail stop within a few minutes. within the past hour donald trump tweeted out something talking about alleging that the rubio campaign was somehow trying to rig the early vote. however, the rubio campaign now
10:56 am
firing back saying there's absolutely no evidence of that. and here's their response saying. dedicated volunteers working on his behalf to win florida. trump must be scared of losing. so again, this is a back and forth between marco rubio's campaign and donald trump's campaign. the rubio campaign pushing hard telling the media not to even air these types of tweets from donald trump because there's simply no evidence of this. rubio is making this last-minute push here in florida. he is down anywhere from 6 to 23 percentage points depending what poll you look at. he's trying to win the last minute votes. as i mentioned earlier in the hour, earlier this hour he talked about the political discourse in this country and how he worried trump was contributing to that. he called on trump to condemn the actions going on at his
10:57 am
rallies. i'm going to send it back to you. again, the rubio campaign very upset that donald trump tweeted this out, these allegations of early voting rigging that they see no evidence. back to you, kate. >> all right. thanks so much, gabe gutierrez. that's the danger of twitter. trying to get responses as quickly as we can. that's going to do it for me at this hour. i'm kate snow in miami. thanks for watching. up next, frances rivera joins us from new york as we await the start of donald trump's rally in cleveland and the rest of the day's political events. have a good day. at mfs investment management, we believe in the power of active management. by debating our research to find the best investments. by looking at global and local insights to benefit from different points of view. and by consistently breaking apart risk to focus on long-term value. we actively manage with expertise and conviction. so you can invest with more certainty.
